To settle what might be the largest ever refrigerant-related EPA enforcement case, Kroger entered into a consent decree with the federal government that will require them to spend $100,000,000 over the next three years to reduce refrigerant emissions and improve compliance at its stores and manufacturing facilities. The company will also pay a $2,500,000 fine. Violations included the failure to promptly repair refrigerant leaks and the failure to keep adequate records.
