Are You Ready for California’s Refrigerant Bans?

Some Help for Charge Size Calcs!
Have you ever looked at an appliance in your compliance records and thought, “there’s no way that charge size can be correct.” What do you do in those situations? The EPA allows you to calculate full charge sizes, but they don’t give you any guidance on how to do that. Check out this refrigerant charge size calculator on the California Air Resources Board website!
Looming Deadline for Installation of Split AC Systems!
Don’t forget that the deadline to install field-installed split AC systems that use a refrigerant with a GWP ≥ 700 is 1/1/2025. The EPA extended the installation deadline to 1/1/2026 ONLY if all system components were manufactured prior to 1/1/2025. See RMS’s fact sheet on the Technology Transitions Rule for more info.
