The EPA SNAP Program Issues Guidance on Using UL Standard 60335-2-40

The EPA SNAP Program’s listings for A2L refrigerants require compliance with UL Standard 60335-2-40 Edition 3. If you are wondering how UL 60335-2-40 Edition 4 fits into compliance with the SNAP regulations, you’re in luck. The EPA updated their guidance with some help for those of you who sit and ponder things like this.

NY State Completes Two Model HFC Transition Projects to Replace Harmful Refrigerants

As an example of successful projects to reduce HFCs, in March 2024, NY DEC announced the completion of an ALDI project in Buffalo, Erie County, and a Walgreens project in Islandia, Suffolk County. These demonstration projects will help guide the statewide transition away from HFCs while informing policy development and programming.

RMS Webinar Recording/Slides Available Now

Just in case you missed it… the recording/slides for the NASRC/RMS webinar called “Federal and State Refrigerant Regulations” are available on the NASRC website. The webinar covered what food retailers need to know about federal and state HFC refrigerant regulations and what can be done to prepare for future regulations. It included a specific focus on California regulations and compliance.

NJ Wants Your Input for Their GHG Reporting Rule

The NJ DEP issued a 3-minute voluntary survey on leaks, leak detection, and leak repair to gather info on industry standards regarding the maintenance and operation of refrigeration systems. Survey questions do not request any facility-identifying data, and all information collected will be anonymous. Better info should (at least theoretically) lead to better regulations, so do your part to help improve the NJ GHG Monitoring and Reporting Rule!

The NASRC Kicks-Off New Webinar Series

The new NASRC webinar series highlights technologies and services that support the successful transition to natural refrigerants. The webinars are relevant to stakeholders in all locations. Check out the upcoming webinars.
